Corporate Operations Specialist - Safety

Job Summary

Develops and implements a comprehensive safety program to include regulatory compliance, data collection and interpretation, accident prevention, safety training, and presentation of results, actions and recommendations for improvement within the organization. Develops, assigns and/or presents training to employees on safety.  Conducts safety and injury investigations and provides support to help identify root causes and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Maintains understanding of safety requirements per federal and state requirements and develops and manages safety program initiatives regarding the same.
  • Develops, assigns and/or presents training to employees on OSHA and company mandated policy and/or procedural topics.
  • Conducts accident and injury investigations and provide support to help identify root causes and corrective actions. 
  • Coordinates with regulatory agencies and BSE purchasing and branch leadership to ensure regulatory compliance with applicable federal, state and local guidelines.
  • Conducts Job Safety Analysis, facility audits for safety conformity and adherence to safety policy and state and federal regulations.  
  • Establishes, maintains and strengthens relationships with Safety-related agencies and trade associations.
  • Partners with internal and external partners and customers on safety, equipment and compliance issues.  

Non-essential Functions

  • Completes formal Root Cause Analysis when required and assist operations personnel in developing and implementing action items. 
  • Provides reporting and statistical evaluations and analysis as necessary and presents results to management. 
  • Prepares and presents audit results, develops action plans and as needed assists in implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a 2-4-year degree in related field preferred or the equivalent in related work experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA general industry and construction regulations. 
  • Minimum 1-year experience with contractor safety management services, such as ISNetworld, Browz, PICS, etc.
  • Experience in safety training development and delivery preferred.
  • OSHA 501 Trainer authorization preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English. 
  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Microsoft Outlook and SAP software preferred.

  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and use independent judgment to issues. 
  • Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive, and engaged.
