Job Summary

The Distribution Center (DC) Facilities Associate is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of the company’s buildings and grounds. This role performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, while coordinating with contractors for more complex issues. The technician maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, schedules regular upkeep, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additional duties include facility upkeep such as lighting, landscaping, cleaning, and inventory of maintenance supplies. The position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-functioning work environment.
 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Surveys buildings and grounds, locates and identifies areas in need of repair, determines necessary repairs, and performs work as appropriate or reports problems to supervisor. 
  • Makes simple repairs and adjustments on mechanical, electrical, appliance, and plumbing as needed, and records areas for repairs requiring contractor or service provider involvement.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance to plant equipment such as greasing valves, pumps, pneumatics, HVAC systems, and makes minor equipment adjustments. 
  • Develops and maintains work logs, inventory and equipment control records, and preventive maintenance records. 
  • Establishes a schedule for periodic maintenance for buildings and grounds and collaborates with supervisor to address items needing attention.
  • Coordinates and facilitates execution of work with outside service providers or contractors as needed.  
  • Performs non-technical tasks such as snow removal, watering and maintenance of landscaping features, cleaning, and painting touch-ups. 
  • Ensures all light fixtures are operational, changing light bulbs as necessary. 
  • Conducts regular inspections of the warehouse and office areas to identify safety hazards and addresses them promptly. Ensures safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency exits) is in working order.
  • Maintains inventory of general facility supplies (e.g., cleaning products, tools, parts) and ensures proper stock levels.
  • Ensures all maintenance tasks are compliant with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards. 
  • Documents all maintenance work performed and reports any significant issues to the Operations Manager or supervisor.

Non-essential Functions

  • Assists with running errands, i.e. courier to other local company locations, retrieving supplies/materials for tasks, holding objects (materials requiring more than one person), cleaning up after completion of tasks, etc.
  • Collaborates with warehouse supervisors and operations teams to ensure minimal disruption to warehouse activities during maintenance work.
  • Supports warehouse staff in maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Assists in coordinating with the EHS team to ensure that all maintenance and facility work aligns with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.
     

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience required. 
  • 5 years of mechanical related experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance and methods.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Currently licensed or ability to obtain a license to operate fork trucks.
