Job Summary
The Distribution Center (DC) Master Data Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating critical product and storage location data within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other enterprise platforms. This role ensures data accuracy and consistency across systems through regular audits, collaboration with IT and operations teams, and enforcement of data standards. Supports cross-functional teams including inbound, inventory control, and operations by facilitating updates to product volumetrics and storage data.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Maintains and updates product and storage location data in the warehouse management system (WMS) and other enterprise systems.
- Ensures the accuracy and consistency of data across all systems, performing regular checks and audits to identify discrepancies or errors.
- Collaborates with IT and operations teams to ensure master data is flowing properly across various business systems, including WMS, ERP, and other relevant software tools.
- Coordinates with the inbound and inventory control teams to manage and facilitate updates to product volumetrics, storage locations, and other relevant data as needed.
- Observes and enforces existing data entry standards, ensuring that all data is entered correctly and consistently.
- Documents and maintains training on operation and maintenance of Cubiscan machines.
- Provides training and support to operations personnel and other departments on master data management practices, ensuring proper data handling across the organization.
- Works with the operations manager to implement best practices for inventory management and process improvements related to the management of master data.
Non-essential Functions
- Participates with other projects as needed.
- Works with the IT team to troubleshoot data-related system issues and support data migration or system upgrades.
- Assists other teams in using master data for reporting and analysis, ensuring they have access to reliable and up-to-date information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, information systems, business administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in data management, inventory control, or master data within a distribution or warehouse environment preferred.
- Proficiency in data management software and systems (e.g., Stibo STEP, WMS, ERP systems).
- Prior electrical distribution experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), internet, email, and SAP software preferred.
- Experience with data entry standards, quality control processes, and data governance.
