Job Summary

The Electrical designer is responsible for designing power and lighting systems for buildings which may include residential (single and multi-family), commercial, indoor agriculture, government, educational, medical, and electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure. Coordinates with the engineering team to ensure projects are within budget and project deadlines are met. Communicates with customers to ensure satisfactory results.  

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Prepares power plans for buildings in Autodesk Revit including receptacle layouts, power layouts for various equipment (e.g., commercial kitchens, HVAC, etc.), and electrical panel layouts. 
  • Creates preliminary or final sketch of proposed drawing, using standard drafting techniques and devices, or using computer-assisted design drafting equipment. 
  • Prepares single line diagrams.
  • Prepares panel schedules.
  • Prepares lighting plans for buildings which includes lighting switch layouts, lighting placement and selection, and emergency lighting layout. 
  • Prepares photometric studies for normal and emergency lighting.
  • Communicates with clients, allied trades, Border States teams, and project stakeholders to bridge any identified gaps or perceived risks to project delivery. 
  • Modifies drawings as directed by engineer or architect.

Non-essential Functions

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction on work performed. 
  • Develops detailed project plans and monitors progress against project schedule. 
  • Communicates with clients throughout the construction process to ensure satisfaction with their project’s progress.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of work experience related to responsibilities above. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Revit and AutoCad.
  • Revit certification preferred.
  • Understand NEC code (Title 24 code preferred).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), preferred.
