Job Summary

Responsible for managing Engineering Studies within Border States Engineering Services to ensure Service Excellence is provided to all internal and external customers. Coordinate with team to ensure projects are within budget and meeting project deadlines. Communicate with customers to ensure satisfactory results and look for additional opportunities. Work with branch and other Border States leadership to identify sales opportunities and provide solutions to internal and external customers. 

Responsibilities

Essential functions

  • Provides end-to-end project management for the execution of arc flash and short circuit study packages for all project sizes and types such as residential, commercial and utility.
  • Meets with customers to determine their needs.
  • Performs arc flash and short circuit studies.
  • Creates contracts and invoices when required. 
  • Manages all aspects of projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, and supervising work crews. 
  • Reviews arc flash and short circuit studies with Electrical Engineering staff to ensure all goals are met for design and plan check.
  • Leads the establishment in the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical, and performance parameters. 
  • Monitors project costs and scheduling for on-time completion of projects. 
  • Manages the flow of project information amongst the team, through regular meetings and written communication. 
  • Collaborates with internal Border States teams to design, develop, and implement projects. 
  • Monitors and reports on project KPI metrics. 
  • Communicates with clients, allied trades, Border States teams, and project stakeholders to bridge any identified gaps or perceived risks to project delivery. 

Non-essential functions

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction on work performed.
  • Develops detailed project plans and monitors progress against project schedule. 
  • Communicates with clients throughout the construction process to ensure satisfaction with their project’s progress. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum four-year engineering, technical, or business degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience. 
  • Seven plus years of prior work experience preferred with good knowledge of electrical, utility, industrial or communication wiring products and systems preferred.  
  • Must have a current Professional of Engineering (PE) license within the United States.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.  
  • Must be proficient in performing arc flash and short circuit studies using software such as ETAP and SKM.
  • Prefer strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), Internet, Email, and SAP software.
