Job Summary
The Services Operations Specialist plays a critical role in reducing operational inefficiencies and clearing executional barriers across all Services lines. This role enables Services leaders to focus on strategy, implementation, and growth by identifying process gaps, driving approved improvements, enforcing standards, and ensuring consistent execution. The role is an enterprise enabler responsible for improving how Services operate within Border States and with our customers.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Identifies operational inefficiencies and process gaps across all Services lines and supporting functions.
- Recommends process improvements supported by data, impact, and scalability considerations.
- Drives implementation of approved process improvements in partnership with supporting departments.
- Enforces agreed-upon process standards, data integrity practices, and documentation requirements.
- Provides hands-on operational support related to SAP processes, consignment workflows, data governance, and reporting.
- Serves as the primary Services liaison for cross-functional operational follow-up with IT, Finance, Tax, and related partners.
- Coordinates and tracks execution of operational decisions to ensure follow-through and completion.
- Supports development, maintenance, and reinforcement of SOPs and operating standards across Services.
- Maintains visibility into operational performance indicators including rework, invoicing accuracy, and process adherence.
- Proactively surfaces risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities and escalates as appropriate to the VP of Services.
- Manages decision authority on pricing decisions, service scope approval, staffing decisions, Financial or P&L commitments, and technical execution ownership
Non-Essential Functions
- Supports scheduling, facilitation, and documentation of cross functional working sessions, project reviews, and process improvement meetings as requested by Services leadership.
- Assists with change management communications related to approved process updates, including drafting updates, coordinating timelines, and supporting rollout reinforcement.
- Participates in testing, validation, and deployment support for SAP or systems enhancements impacting Services workflows, in partnership with IT.
- Prepares ad hoc analysis or operational summaries for Services leadership to support decision-making, executive updates, or audit readiness.
- Assists in maintaining operational knowledge repositories, shared resources, and internal documentation libraries.
- Performs other operational support duties as assigned that align with the intent of improving consistency, execution discipline, and scalability across Services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, supply Chain, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP required.
- Demonstrated experience with consignment processes and operational data governance.
- Experience working cross-functionally with IT, Finance, and operational teams.
- Strong operational judgment with the ability to prioritize, influence, and drive execution.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
