Job Summary

The Senior Inside Sales Representative supports the day-to-day operations of the Customer Service team in promoting sales, obtaining orders, and providing service to our customers. Utilizes advanced product and application knowledge and industry best practices to develop solutions to meet customer needs. Coordinates sales and service strategies to maximize customer sales potential. Provides support to the account manager to help execute sales plans, improve service levels, and grow the customer share of wallet. Manages projects, receives and enters orders, provides consistent and timely follow-up on customer inquiries, coordinates and expedites deliveries, processes returns, runs daily reports, and resolves customer and order issues.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Receives, reviews, and enters orders in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Optimizes margin and service through efficient use of cross-docking, transfers, drop-ship, etc. 
  • Effectively manages orders / buyouts or multi-stage projects with multiple releases (hold orders / commodities).
  • Responsible for growing sales with trusted customers. 
  • Provides price quotes to customers for existing bill of materials and creates bill of materials from take-offs. 
  • Responsible for managing projects. 
  • Responsible for quoting and managing small projects (lighting / power equipment / large commodity buyouts / forward buys).
  • Provides consistent and timely follow-up on customer inquiries and order status. 
  • Secures pricing from vendors, coordinates deliveries, and  expedites deliveries when necessary.
  • Effectively processes returns to maximize value.  
  • Able to negotiate more favorable returns and optimizes freight capture / spend
  • Proactively provides customers with status updates (orders and returns).
  • Utilizes advanced product and application knowledge to provide service to the customer.
  • Understands market trends, industry best practices, and business processes to develop solutions to meet customer needs. 
  • Provides value to customer through the sourcing of material. 
  • Able to brand cross and upsell companion products.
  • Develops and maintains trusted relationships with customers and suppliers through personal interactions.
  • Regularly advises and consults with customer project management team. 
  • Assists Account Manager in communicating opportunities to grow sales with target accounts.
  • Runs daily reports and resolves customer and order issues. 
  • Provides assistance to peers with customer issues and order issues.
  • Analyzes data contained within reports to identify tends and opportunities for improvement, customer market share, etc. 
  • Uses industry / business knowledge to assist and resolves customer billing issues in a way that is mutually beneficial.
  • Coordinates the use of marketing tools, technical specialists, and company capabilities / services in support of a broad spectrum of products and service solutions.  
  • Coordinates sales and service strategies with preferred vendors to maximize sales and service position with customer.  
  • Provides support to the account manager to help execute sales plans, improve service levels, and grow the customer share of wallet. 


Non-essential Functions

  • Identifies opportunities for pricing agreements.
  • Provides input and helps facilitate training.
  • Becomes a Dr How SME and provides training and guidance to Customer Service Reps and Inside Sales. 
  • Mentors Customer Service Reps and Inside Sales.
  • Attends industry events and trade shows as needed.
  • Attends sales and product meetings and technical training programs, as needed.  
  • May input TCCM cost savings documentation relevant to the assigned customer base.
  • Participates in and advises sales management on the implementation and success of marketing plans and strategies. 
  • Participates in field marketing summit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate.

Qualifications

 

  • Two-year business/trade degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.  
  • 5+ years of prior customer service, city desk or sales experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical products and systems preferred.  
  • 5+ years of prior electrical distribution experience preferred.  
  • Technical ability to understand electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), internet, and email.
  • Working knowledge of SAP software preferred.
